Title: Heavy Duty Cleaner
Reports To: Site Supervisor/Manager
Status of Work: (indicate full-time or part-time)
Responsibilities:
“heavy” cleaning tasks including but not limited to:
- maintenance of hard floor surfaces – dustmopping, wetmopping, autoscrubbing, burnishing.
- Stripping and finishing hard surface floors manually or with power equipment when required.
- Transporting garbage from drop points to garbage bins or compactor. Operating the compactor. Cleaning the compactor at regular intervals.
- Transporting maintenance equipment between floors and job sites when necessary.
- Cleaning of glass that requires ladders, scaffolding or other extension equipment.
- Cleaning of stairwells and elevator cabs where ladders are required.
- Other duties as assigned by management such as but not limited to:
- Washing walls, ceilings and ceiling light fixtures and ceiling fans.
- Operates pile lifting equipment to restore certain types of carpet.
- Shampoos broadloom and operates extraction equipment.
Physical Demands of the Job: must be able to bend, reach above shoulder level, twist, climb, kneel, stand, squat, walk, lift up to 15 KG floor to waist, operate small equipment, push, pull.
Required Elements: Must have a minimum grade 12 education. Must be able to communicate fluently in English (both written and spoken). Must be customer service focused. Must be able to prioritize and work independently. Applicant must be able to problem solve. Must be trustworthy and reliable. Must also be willing when required to work as part of a team. A good previous attendance record at past place of employment is also required. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.
Additional Assets: previous cleaning experience an asset. A valid driver’s license is considered an asset to respond quickly to emergency situations such as staffing shortages, floods, etc.
Hours of Operation: must be available to work all hours of operations which includes days, evenings, midnights both mid week and weekend.
